Former President Joseph Kabila Kabange is set to contest the 2028 presidential elections as he bids to rule over the Democratic Republic of Congo once again.

Kabila’s political party, the People’s Party for Reconstruction and Democracy (PPRD), has revealed that it is already working towards the return to power in 2028.

PPRD party deputy Permanent Secretary Ferdinand Kambere says there is no barrier preventing the former head of state from making a return to the political scene.

“We are in principle. A political party only promotes its leader politically. For us, there are no two leaders, it is Joseph Kabila, national president of the PPRD,” Kambere said.

He added: “It is Joseph Kabila who is being prepared so that he returns to power. There is no constitutional constraint. Kabila has no constraint which prevents him from returning to power, he added. he wants it. We, as a political party, it is his name, his ideology, his image that we preach.”

Kambere adds that Kabila is looking to return to power after having been let down by the incompetent and discriminative government of Félix Tshisekedi.
