Democratic Republic of Congo President Félix Tshisekedi is facing a great deal of misery as he desperately aims to stop the advancement of the rampant M23 rebels who have gained control of strategic territories in the eastern region of the country.

In response to this situation, Tshisekedi called for an emergency cabinet meeting at the Presidential Palace in Kinshasa’s Ngaliema commune to discuss security challenges in the east and the humanitarian truce proposed by the United States.

The meeting was attended by Prime Minister Judith Suminwa, the Deputy Prime Ministers of the Interior and Defence, the Minister of State for Foreign Affairs and the Minister of Communication and Media.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Judith Suminwa Tuluka later called for another emergency meeting in the absence of Tshisekedi to review the country’s important issues and highlights of the continuity and stability of governance in the DRC.

The DR Congo government currently faces major challenges arising from its complicity, incompetence and corrupt style of governance.
