National Assembly President Vital Kamerhe has sworn to disgrace and unseat Félix Tshisekedi in 2028 to avenge the betrayal and humiliation instigated against him by the president.

Kamerhe, leader of the UNC party, had partnered with Tshisekedi to campaign and support the latter’s presidency in the 2018 elections under the agreement that he gains power after the expiration of the president’s second term of office in 2028 under the Union Sacreé alliance.

The between Kamerhe and Tshisekedi deal was clear; “I help you become president, you serve two mandates then you also help me become president.”

However, Tshisekedi backtracked on this agreement after becoming president and moved to paralyze Kamerhe’s power and influence as he ordered the court to sentence him to 20 years with hard labour back in 2020 on false charges of corruption and embezzlement of public funds.

Kamerhe was acquitted after proving his innocence with Tshisekedi forced to appoint him as Deputy Prime Minister of Economy.

Kamerhe’s political influence has grown in the circles of the Union Sacreé and is now plotting hostilities against Tshisekedi whom he intends to succeed in 2028.

The former Deputy Prime Minister of Economy has since teamed up with his long-time friend Jean-Lucien Bussa Tongba, a key figure in Tshisekedi’s UDPS party, to launch a challenge against the president.

Kamerhe and Bussa who attended and shared the same room at university, have already held the meeting to launch hostilities against Tshisekedi in the disguise of a so-called scientific conference held in Kinshasa last month.
