Very few leagues, especially in the Scandinavia and the United States, continued over the weekend and Rwandan players put up impressive performances.

Josias-King Furaha put his name on the score board for FK Jerv in Norway and Rafael York provided an assist in Gefle’s 2-1 defeat in Sweden whereas Arthur Gitego, fresh from international duty with Amavubi, again found the back of the net for AFC Leopards in the last day of the Kenyan Premier League.

Times Sport brings to you a wrap up of how Rwandan players fared abroad over the weekend.

Kenya

Striker Arthur Gitego was on target and played full throttle as his side AFC Leopards lost 3-2 to Shabana in match day 32 of the Kenyan Premier League. Leopards finished the season in 7th place with 42 points.

Sweden

Yannick Mukunzi replaced Ludwig Thorrell in the 62nd minute as Sandviken IF beat Oddevod 2-0 on Sunday, June 16. Fellow Rwandan, Lague Byiringiro was not in the Sandviken match day squad.

Elsewhere, Rafael York recovered from the injury he sustained in the Benin vs Rwanda World Cup 2026 qualifying game to start for his club Gefle IF who lost 2-1 at the hands of Landskrona BoIS on Saturday, June 15.

The midfielder set up Constantino Capotondi for the opening goal of the game in the 12th minute before making way for Sebastian Friman in the 59th minute.

In the Ettan Norra League, Rafael Torre, who is the junior brother of Rafael York, started the game for Orebro Syrianska before sustaining an injury that forced him out after just 7 minutes of action. He was replaced by Ibrahim Habib as they drew 2-2 with Nordic United.

In the same division, Kaleleo Wimbabazi came in for Bendik Brevik in the 46th minute as his side Pitea IF beat Taby 1-0.

Norway

Winger Josias-King Furaha came from the bench to score in the 73rd minute for FK Jerv who drew 1-1 with Vard at the Sakkestad gras Stadium on Saturday, June 15. Countryman Ange Jimmy Mutsinzi played full throttle for Jerv.

Clement Twizere Buhake was in the posts for Ull/Kisa who thrashed Strindheim 3-0.

USA

Youngster Sanders Ngabo was an unused substitute for Philadelphia Union who lost 2-1 to Inter Miami at the Subaru Park on Sunday, June 16 in the Major League Soccer.

New Amavubi boy Jojea Kwizera was given a rest after international duty and was not selected by his USL team Rhode Island FC who played out a 2-2 draw with Memphis.

In the third tier, forward Innocent Nshuti is expected to feature on Tuesday June 18, when One Knoxville SC visit Northern Colorado Hailstorm.

Latvia

Dylan Maes saw 90 minutes of action for FS Jelgava who lost 4-2 to Grobinas on Sunday, June 16
