Sixteen foreign-based players have been revealed as the part of Amavubi squad for the upcoming international friendlies; against Botswana and Madagascar.
As per The FIFA International Match Calendar (sometimes abbreviated as the FIFA Calendar, we are heading to the March 2024 international break in which the national team can play either official or friendly games within four days.
The coming break is scheduled between 18 and 26 March 2024. Rwanda will use this opportunity to play COSAF teams: Botswana and Madagascar on 22 and 25 March respectively. Both matches will be played in Madagascar’s capital, Antananarivo.
Head coach Torsten Frank Spittler will use the occasion as part of Amavubi’s preparations for the forthcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup Africa Qualifiers in June. Rwanda returns to qualifying action in June when they visit Benin and Lesotho.
Rwanda beat South Africa 2-0 and drew goalless against Zimbabwe in the 2026 World Cup qualifying matches held in Huye in November 2023 to move to the top of Group C with 4 points.
AFCON 2023 semifinalists South Africa are second with three points while Nigeria, Zimbabwe, and Lesotho follow with two points apiece. Benin finds themselves at the bottom with one point after two qualifying matches.
